NORTH QUINCY, Mass. – The University of New England found the back of the cage four times in the 2nd half to defeat Eastern Nazarene College by a 5-0 margin in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 23) at Creedon Field.
The Nor'easters (5-3, 1-1 CCC) have now won the last five meetings against the Lions (4-4, 0-2 CCC) without conceding a score.
UNE got on the board in the 17th minute when
Becca Murphy sprung
Katie Beaudoin for a breakaway tally. That 1-0 margin held until the 64th minute, before Beaudoin netted another goal that was setup by Murphy. Five of Beaudoin's 12 career goals (22 games) have come against ENC.
The pitch tilted heavily for the Nor'easters the rest of the way, with markers from
Caroline Wilson in the 72nd minute,
Kat Buscemi in the 86th, and
Sydney Littlefield in the 89th.
Katie LaMarre,
Amanda Gagne, and
Hanna Sihler were all credited with assists down the stretch for UNE, which posted a 20-2 advantage in shots during the final period.
Emily Ashman registered three saves and the shutout fot the visitors. The Nor'easters return home to face Bowdoin College on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
Kyera Bryant had nine stops for Eastern Nazarene in the loss.
