LEWISTON, Maine -- Two 2nd-half goals lifted Bates College to a 2-0 result against the University of New England in women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon (Sep. 17) at Russell Street Field.
The Bobcats improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Nor'easters dip back to 4-3.
The sides combined to put just three shots on-target in the opening 45 minutes. Then, in the 52nd minute, Olivia Amdur collected a loose ball on the left side and curved one into the top-right portion of the net. A little more than 10 minutes later, Cassidy McCarns threaded the pass to Riley Turcotte who drove home an insurance goal for Bates.
Sarah McCarthy made five saves for Bates to preserve the shutout.
Jenna Pannone registered six saves for UNE, which is off until Saturday at Eastern Nazarene College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) meeting.
