SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Western New England University outscored the University of New England 3-0 in the third quarter before holding off the Nor'easters late for a 9-7 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse win Sunday afternoon (Apr. 2) at Golden Bear Stadium.
The Golden Bears (2-8 overall) picked up their second victory of the season to remain unbeaten in conference play at 2-0. UNE dropped to 6-4 overall, 1-2 in CCC action.
Western New England featured a balanced attack, with Keegan Dudeck, Nicholas Beauchamp and Jared Ward each scoring a pair of goals.
Dan Auger had a monster game for the Nor'easters, figuring into six of UNE's seven scoring plays with three goals and three assists.

Alex Zadworny,
Collin Morrow and
Jason Erwin had a goal apiece.
Clinging to a one-goal lead (6-5) at intermission, Liam Baker started Western New England's third-period spurt with an early goal, and Beauchamp then followed with consecutive markers.
Auger notched a pair of scores in the fourth to cut UNE's deficit in half.
The stat sheet was nearly identical, with Western New England holding a slight edge in shots (39-35), but the Nor'easters taking a small margin in ground balls (26-23). Each team won 9 of 18 face-offs.
Matthew Layton was 6-for-8 at the dot for UNE, while
Adam Race had five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Winning goalkeeper Steven Kerr had 14 saves, and
David Pearson totaled 10 for UNE.
The Nor'easters will make the short trip to Gorham on Wednesday, where they will take on the University of Southern Maine at 4 p.m.
