FARMINGTON, Maine -- A 6th-minute goal by James Pelletier proved to be enough for the University of Maine-Farmington, which defeated the University of New England men's soccer team, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 4) at Leib Field.
Luke Dwornik assisted on the deciding play, as he carried possession towards the left end line and sent a cross through the crease to where Pelletier placed his initial touch just inside the right post.
The Nor'easters controlled the scoring chances in the match to the tune of a 20-8 shots-margin, including a header off the crossbar in the final 35 seconds, but could not find an equalizer.
Matt Wilson turned in nine saves for UMF (5-5) in the shutout.
Will Shearon recorded three stops for the Nor'easters (2-10), who visit Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday (3 p.m.) for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tilt.
