Seahawks turn back UNE in season finale

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Salve Regina University defeated the University of New England by a 3-0 margin (25-18, 25-17, 25-11) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28) at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The Seahawks (16-11, 6-3 CCC) were paced by nine kills and 14 digs from Cassidy Trabilcy. Samantha Higgins registered seven winners and three points worth of blocks. Annie Donahue chipped in with six kills and three solo blocks. In addition to 29 assists, Samantha Salwa tallied five points on service aces. Kathryn Linekin led the back line effort with 23 digs.

On the side of the Nor'easters (11-14, 4-5 CCC), seven kills apiece came from Rene Roggenbuck and Paige Simoneau. Kristen Falcinelli posted a double-double of 13 assists and 11 digs; Sydney Christiansen and Katie Marsh picked 12 and 11 digs, respectively.

UNE will head right back to Salve Regina on Tuesday evening for the No.3/No.6 matchup in the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament. Interactive Bracket
