BIDDEFORD, Maine -- After nearly getting doubled-up in the opening frame, the University of New England stormed back to take a 3-1 victory (13-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19) over Gordon College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball match Tuesday evening (Oct. 24) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Nor'easters (10-13, 4-4 CCC) were led by 18.5 points out of Rene Roggenbuck, with 10 kills, five aces, and five blocks (2 solo). Molly Camelo also had 10 winners, and made her night a double-double with 11 digs. Senior setter Kristen Falcinelli put up 19 assists, 14 digs, seven kills, and three aces. Sydney Christiansen went for 16 assists and 16 digs, while Katie Marsh totaled a team-high 17 digs.

For the Fighting Scots (14-11, 3-5 CCC), Amanda Snyder led all players with 11 kills, and picked up 11 digs, as well. Mackenzie Hinds registered 10 points in the attack, which was guided by 37 assists from Ashlyn Gergins. Jenny Curtiss racked up a match-high 20 digs and dropped in four aces.

Gordon led from the outset of the 1st set, and later countered four straight UNE points with a 10-0 spurt to establish a comfortable 19-7 advantage.

Things were much tighter in the 2nd, with seven ties and three lead-changes. The visitors held a 14-12 edge before six unanswered by the Nor'easters shifted the momentum, and the hosts separated from the Fighting Scots with another six in-a-row moments later.

UNE gained the lead for good in the 3rd with three consecutive kills to break away from 11-all (the sixth tie of the stanza). Camelo's sixth winner of the set was immediately followed by kills from Falcinelli and Roggenbuck to make it 21-16.

The Nor'easters were ahead on the scoreboard for all but one point (tied at 1-1) in the 4th, and gained some breathing room with a 13-7 stretch in the middle that upped the cushion to 23-14. Gordon closed the gap to five (24-19), but Falcinelli capped Senior Day with a kill to clinch it for UNE. [Watch]
