Seahawks overcome halftime deficit to stop UNE

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Donald Igo scored goals in the 53rd and 74th minutes to bring Salve Regina University back for a 3-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer result over the University of New England on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 15) at Gaudet Field.

The deciding tally from Igo came on a 30-yard free kick, bent into the upper left corner of the net. With the win, the Seahawks improve to 9-3-3 overall and 3-2-1 in league action.

The Nor'easters drop to 2-13 on the year (1-5 CCC).

After the hosts got on the board in the 14th minute with a goal by Conor Woods, UNE stormed in front with a pair from Lee Esposito in 88 seconds spanning the 28th and 29th minutes. Cody Kennedy assisted on the marker that put the visitors up, 2-1.

Both Salve Regina's Michael Payan and UNE's Nathan Delesdernier made six saves on the day.

The Nor'easters are slated to host Curry College on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
