GORHAM, Maine --
Katie Beaudoin tallied three 1st-half goals to guide the University of New England women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 12) at Hannaford Field.
The triumph ends a five-match winless stretch for the Nor'easters, who move to 6-7-1 on the year. The Huskies fall to 2-10 with a ninth straight loss.
Beaudoin now has two career hat tricks -- both within one period of the particular contest (14:07 of a 2nd half last year, 35:08 today). The sophomore's season total of 10 goals equals the most by a Big Blue player since the 2008 campaign.
Caroline Wilson,
Vanessa Hodge, and
Jenna Cowan set-up Beaudoin's markers, which came in the 6th, 33rd, and 41st minutes.
Kat Buscemi put in a rebound off a
Julia Bousquet shot in the 86th minute to make it 4-0, but Elise Porter converted a feed from Olivia Mull just 95 seconds later (87th) to put the Huskies on the board.
Jenna Pannone earned the goalie decision for UNE, working 74 minutes and stopping all four shots sent in her direction.
For Southern Maine, which was out-shot by a 25-8 margin, Taylor Canastra logged 14 saves.
The Nor'easters will tackle the remainder of their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schedule from here on, beginning with a visit to Salve Regina University on Saturday (12 p.m.).
