BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Two goals just 2:32 apart during the initial portion of the 2nd period provided the difference for Gordon College in a 2-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer victory over the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 10) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

Kiersten Klose and Jill Kefalas did the scoring for the Fighting Scots (5-4-2, 2-2-1 CCC), who needed five saves from Kali Denty for the shutout.

In the 62nd minute, it was Klose stepping into a bouncing clearance from 30 yards out, slotting it just under the crossbar. Then in the 65th, Kefalas found a loose ball in the crease and tapped it in.

Emily Ashman had a busy day in goal for the Nor'easters (5-7-1, 1-4 CCC), totaling a career-high 14 saves.

UNE is off to Gorham on Thursday (3:30 p.m.) for a non-league date with the University of Southern Maine.
