BRISTOL, R.I. -- Four different players registered between 11 and eight points for the University of New England women's volleyball team in a 3-1 victory over Bridgewater State University on Friday night (Sep. 30) as play at the Roger Williams University Invitational got underway. Set scores were 25-22, 25-9, 20-25, and 25-23.
Winners in five of their last six matches, the Nor'easters (8-5) received a team-high nine kills from
Katie Flynn. She also shared the team-high for digs (16) with
Kristen Falcinelli, who put up 36 assists and three aces.
Grayson Szczepaniak notched seven kills, two blocks, and a pair of service winners.
Erika Sawicki added seven kills, and
Rene Roggenbuck contributed six kills along with 3.5 blocks.
Brittany Morrison helped the defensive effort with 12 digs.
Erin Clifford had 13 kills and factored in five blocks for the Bears (5-8). Charleyne Panner had 31 assists and Cassidy Tyros had 32 digs.
UNE will conclude the event on Saturday with contests against Emmanuel College (11 a.m.) and Western Connecticut State University (1 p.m.).
