BEVERLY, Mass. -- Tori McIntyre dialed up 16 kills and had 11 digs to lead Endicott College in a 3-1 victory over the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action Wednesday evening (Sep. 21) at MacDonald Gymnasium. Things were close throughout, as the set scores ended at 25-21, 20-25, 26-24, and 25-21.
The Nor'easters (5-5, 0-1 CCC) were up 19-18 in the 1st frame before a 7-2 run by the Gulls (8-5, 1-0 CCC) an early edge. The 2nd set was equally tight, with the visiting squad rattling off six of the last seven points (from 19-19) to square the match.
UNE also had a slim advantage for most of the 3rd stanza, but dropped three straight to trail 22-20. Big Blue countered with four in-a-row, however Endicott returned those points right back to steal the decision and take a 2-1 cushion -- back-to-back blocks and kills by McIntyre and Lauren Sheehan turned things around. The hosts stayed in front most of the 4th, though needed a 7-3 stretch at the end to pull out the session.
Other than the deciding play of the 2nd set, the teams were never separated by more than four points all night.
The Gulls, who concluded the contest with a .452 attack percentage in the 4th, got 10 kills from Sheehan and a combined 38 assists (20 and 18) from Mareena Clotfelter and Zoey Gifford. Erika Trudon and Cydney Pierce went for 21 and 14 digs, respectively.
For the Nor'easters,
Erika Sawicki went for a team-best 10 winners, and
Katie Flynn supported by putting down nine to go with 16 digs.
Kristen Falcinelli registered a double-double of 38 assists and 12 digs; defensively,

On Saturday, UNE heads to take on Nichols College for a 1 p.m. CCC match.
