BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Lee Esposito scored in the first half for the University of New England and Hany Ramadan tallied in the second for the University of Southern Maine, as the Nor'easters and Huskies played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw Monday evening (Sept. 19) at the Big Blue Turf.

The tie was the fourth in as many home matches for the Nor'easters (1-2-4). Southern Maine is now 0-4-3 on the season.

The Nor'easters were quick to strike, establishing a 1-0 advantage in the fourth minute when Esposito bent a beautiful shot from the left side of the top of the box just inside the right post. Jose Escamilla set-up the play.

UNE would take that 1-0 advantage into intermission despite being out-shot by an 8-2 margin.

Southern Maine knotted the score less than three minutes into the second half off a UNE miscue in its defensive end. Ramadan collected the loose ball and sent it in to an empty net for his third marker of the season.

USM goalkeeper Simon Hulbert had several big stops late in regulation and overtime to help the Huskies earn a tie. He finished with seven saves. Tom Benoit stopped eight shots in his first collegiate start for UNE.

Next up for the Nor'easters is a 6 p.m. home game versus Thomas College on Thursday. Southern Maine travels to Keene State College for a 1 p.m. Little East Conference match Saturday.
