POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Kirsten Platz posted 11 kills and an attack percentage of .600 to pace the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in a 3-0 women's volleyball win over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 10) at the Vassar College Invitational. Set scores were 25-19, 25-9, and 25-22.
The Panthers (6-2) finish the tournament in second place, behind host Vassar, with three victories. The Nor'easters (3-4) took third place in the five-team event with a pair of triumphs.
Mandy Finch added seven kills and 13 digs for UPB, while Christina Ruah went for 26 assists and 10 digs. Erin Fagan sent in six of the team's 11 aces.
For UNE,
Rene Roggenbuck led the way with five kills.
Katie Flynn had four kills and a team-high 10 digs, with
Katie Marsh chipping in with nine digs.
Kristen Falcinelli totaled 11 assists.
Flynn resprented Big Blue on the All-Tournament Team with her efforts over the four matches.
The Nor'easters will return to Maine to face Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
