Box ScorePhotosBIDDEFORD, Maine -- Charlie Fay and Jack Allard combined for nine goals to lead the nationally-ranked Bates College men's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win over the University of New England in a non-conference match played Sunday afternoon (March 6) at the Blue Turf.
Bates, ranked eighth in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll, pushed its unblemished record to 4-0, while the Nor'easters fell back to the .500 mark at 2-2.
Fay finished with a game-high five goals, and Allard chipped in seven points with four markers and three assists. Andrew Melvin, Charlie Hildebrand and Jack Maritz each scored twice for the Bobcats, who roared out to a 9-1 lead after one quarter.

Eli Cooper won 9 of 15 face-offs for Bates, while Sam Francis was 6-for-7. Goalkeeper Joe Faria had five saves in the first half to record the win. Jared Baumann and Mitchell Drake each played a quarter and combined for seven stops.
John Dusel had five saves in the first half for UNE and
David Pearson registered seven after intermission.
Dan Auger scooped up a match-best five ground balls.
The Nor'easters return to action Wednesday when they head to Colby College for a 6 p.m. match. Bates will square-off with No. 4 Amherst College on the road Saturday (1 p.m.).
