BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior captain Dan Auger established school single-game records with 10 points and eight assists to lead the University of New England men's lacrosse team to a 20-5 non-conference win over the University of Southern Maine Saturday afternoon (March 26) at the Big Blue Turf.

The victory was the third straight for the Nor'easters, who climbed over the .500 mark to 5-4. Southern Maine dropped its second consecutive outing to dip to 4-2.

Tom Luttrell scored seven goals to tie a UNE single-game record, held by Geoff Bruno (April 12, 2014 vs. Nichols) and Dan Leyden (April 14, 2007 vs. Curry). Luttrell now leads the Nor'easters with 21 goals on the season.

Auger's record-setting day (10 points on 2 goals, 8 assists) topped the previous mark of six assists in a game he held with Tyler Thomas, and a pair of nine-point performances by Dylan Thomas.

Mitch Mullin supported the Nor'easters' attack with three goals while J.T. Oliver added a pair to go with two assists.

Seth Wing tallied three goals and Nate DelGiudice two to account for the Huskies' scoring output.

UNE roared out to a 7-0 first-quarter lead and never was threatened. Luttrell scored three times in the frame. The Nor'easters would lead 10-3 at intermission and 17-3 after three quarters.

John Dusel played the first half in goal and made six saves to earn the win. David Pearson had five stops in 24:36 of action, and Tyler Nevers made one save the rest of the way.

USM goalkeeper John Bossi recorded two saves over the initial 20:50 before giving way to Zach Bessette, who totaled six stops.

The Nor'easters held advantages in shots (49-30), ground balls (48-37) and face-off wins (19-9). Sean Conger and Matt Layton each had a strong day in the face-off circle for UNE, combining to win 14 of 20 draws and scooping up eight ground balls.

UNE will open Commonwealth Coast Conference play Wednesday (March 30) with a 7 p.m. home match with undefeated Curry College. The Huskies are idle until next Saturday (April 2) when they commence their Little East Conference slate at Eastern Connecticut State University (7 p.m.).
