BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Carly Skibinski was the only player in double digits for points with 16 to lead No. 3 Western New England University in a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-8, 25-11) of No. 7 University of New England in the semifinals of the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Volleyball Championship on Thursday evening (Nov. 3) at the ALHC Gymnasium.

The Golden Bears (21-9) advance into Saturday's final to meet top-seeded Endicott College (a 3-0 winner over Salve Regina).

With the setback, the Nor'easters wrap up the year with a 14-13 ledger.

Skibinski totaled seven kills, five aces, and factored in six blocks for the hosts. Sam Heffer also registered seven kills, and Jenna Leuck had 25 assists. Torie Howdeshell pulled up 12 digs and added three aces. Emmaline Chiodini contributed 10 digs.

UNE received four kills from Grayson Szczepaniak. Nikki Mathewson led the defensive effort with eight digs.

Western New England led from the start of the opening set, which ended with seven straight points for the home side (25-15). The Golden Bears countered the initial point of the 2nd for the Nor'easters with seven in-a-row, and quickly built a 22-4 advantage on the way to a two-set cushion. Things were 12-10 in the 3rd before eight consecutive went for WNEU.
