BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Brady Fleurent scored three of the University of New England's six goals in the third period, as the Nor'easters broke open a close game to take an 8-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference men's ice hockey win over Johnson & Wales University Thursday evening (Nov. 17) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The victory evened both the Nor'easters' overall and conference records at 2-2-1. The Wildcats slipped to 2-4-0, 1-4-0 in CCC action.

Fleurent finished with four goals to match a UNE single-game record. His brother -- Trevor Fleurent -- and Jared Melman '15 previously shared the mark.

Ryan Bloom had a pair of goals and two assists for a four-point evening, while Dylan Bengtson contributed four assists. Bloom gave the Nor'easters the lead for good with his first goal of the night, which came late in the second period [Watch].

Leading 2-1 heading into the third, Fleurent tallied back-to-back goals less than three minutes apart early in the frame to start the Nor'easters' onslaught [Watch #1 / Watch #2].

From there UNE would score four consecutive power-play goals in a span of 4:02 to win going away. Armand Uolmoleale made the score 5-1 at 11:41 of the frame [Watch] before Fleurent followed a minute later to make it a five-goal game [Watch]. Bloom and Dustin Walsh completed the scoring for the Nor'easters, who finished the evening with a commanding 49-23 lead in shots. [Watch Bloom / Watch Walsh]

Tristan Goodwin got the Wildcats off to a quick start, notching JWU's lone goal just 44 seconds into the contest, before Fleurent tied things up [Watch].

Joe Noonan was strong in goal for UNE in just his second collegiate start. He made 22 stops, including one on a penalty shot in the second [Watch] and two others on Johnson & Wales breakaways.

Joey Ballmer played the initial 51:41 in goal, totaling 37 saves for JWU, which plays at Curry College on Saturday.

The Nor'easters host Becker College that same day. UNE and the Hawks will face-off at 7 p.m. at the Harold Alfond Forum.
