BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Armand Uomoleale broke a 4-4 tie with 3:04 remaining [Watch], and captain Trevor Fleurent finished with a hat-trick to help give the University of New England a 6-4 men's ice hockey win over Nichols College Thursday evening (Nov. 10) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

UNE picked up its first victory of the season to improve its record to 1-1-1 both overall and in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The Bison suffered their first setback to drop to 3-1-0 (2-1-0 CCC).

With his three tallies (and two assists) Fleurent became the Nor'easters' career leader in both goals (33) and points (76), surpassing Jared Melman '15 in each category. He scored twice in the second and the opening marker of the third to  help UNE rally from a 3-1 deficit.

Brady Fleurent had a five-point evening to match his brother, notching a pair of goals and setting-up three others.

Scott Cuthrell led Nichols with two goals and one assist. J.B. Baker and Michael Parnell each scored once.

After UNE had taken a 1-0 advantage on a Brady Fleurent goal, the Bison responded with three consecutive scores over the ensuing 11:02 to establish a two-goal lead. Baker started the spurt, and Cuthrell followed with a pair of power-play goals.

From that point Trevor Fleurent took over, reeling off three straight goals, including a power-play marker at 2:20 of the third to break Melman's goal record and give the Nor'easters a 4-3 lead [Watch].

Parnell fired home a wrister from the slot with Nichols on a two-man advantage to tie the contest (4-4) nearly midway through the frame.

Uomoleale's game-winner came from the right circle after Dustin Walsh had slid him a pass from the slot.

Brady Fleurent would add his second goal of the evening with 0:26 remaining to thwart any thoughts of Nichols tying the game [Watch].

Goaltender Connor Maloney came on to replace Tate Sproxton early in the second period to earn the win with a solid performance. Maloney totaled 15 saves and Sproxton had 10.

Colin Brennan finished with 14 stops for Nichols.

A total of 22 penalties were called in the game. UNE converted 4 of 11 power-play opportunities, while Nichols went 3-for-11.

Both teams will play CCC road games Saturday. The Nor'easters head to Salve Regina University (4 p.m.), and the Bison travel to Becker College (8:10 p.m.).
