Nor'easters play to 1-1 draw with Curry

Box Score

MILTON, Mass. -- Curry College's Briana Fitzsimmons scored in the 63rd minute to tie the game as the Colonels and the University of New England played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer action Friday afternoon (Oct. 7) at Walter M. Katz Field.

The draw was the first time UNE (7-3-1, 4-0-1 CCC) had not been victorious in conference play. Curry now stands at 6-5-2 overall, 1-3-1 in CCC matches.

Taylor Usko got the Nor'easters on the scoreboard first, notching her second goal of the season from just inside the box in the 31st minute. Anna Michaud and Edie Pallozzi were credited with assists.

After Fitzsimmons' marker sent the match to overtime, UNE had a quality scoring chance in the first extra period to win the contest, but Devon Wolfenden was denied on a point-blank opportunity by Colonel goalkeeper Morgan Stott, who finished with 14 stops.

The Nor'easters had the better part of play for much of the afternoon, earning advantages in shots (25-7) and corner kicks (7-1).

Brielle Robinson had a pair of saves for UNE, which hosts the University of Southern Maine Tuesday at 4 p.m.
