BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University Hawks scored twice in the opening 17 minutes on their way to a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England in men's soccer action Friday afternoon (Oct. 21) at Bayside Field.
The Hawks (5-11-2, 3-3-2 CCC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Dan Kelly (8th minute) and Sean Janson (17th minute). Kelly took the ball up the right side before drawing out UNE keeper
Elijah Leverett and getting off a shot that Leverett got a hand on but was unable to keep out of the goal. Janson beat a Nor'easter defender one-on-one to notch his fourth tally of the season.
Roger Williams would extend its lead to 3-0 in the 58th minute when Charlie Mader headed in a corner kick service from Chris Chieffo.

Ryan Stephens prevented the Nor'easters from being shut out in the 65th minute, taking a feed from
Dan Good and sending a shot from the right side just inside the far post.
Edmund Geschickter made four saves to register the win for the Hawks, who led 13-9 in shots.
Leverett and
Tom Benoit each played a half in goal for UNE. The duo accounted for three stops.
The Nor'easters (3-10-4, 1-6-1) will conclude their regular season Tuesday when they host Wentworth Institute of Technology at 6:30 p.m.
