BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Christy Jewett put down 12 kills and recorded 13 digs to help lead Bowdoin College to a 3-0 victory over the University of New England in women's volleyball action Tuesday evening (Sep. 8) at the Harold Alfond Forum. Set scores were 25-12, 25-13, and 25-14.

The Polar Bears (1-0) received another seven kills from Michelle Albright, and the attack was setup by Quincy Leech and Clare McInerney with 13 and 11 assists, respectively. Leech also tallied six of the 13 service aces for Bowdoin, which led from the start of each frame.
 

For the Nor'easters (1-2), Grayson Szczepaniak and Erika Sawicki each totaled eight winners. Kristen Falcinelli posted a double-double of 14 assists and 12 digs.

Bowdoin is slated to compete at the MIT Invitational this weekend, starting with matches against Springfield College and Endicott College on Friday.

UNE returns to the court on Sunday (12 p.m.) for a date with Husson University.
