Box ScorePhotosNEWPORT, R.I. -- The University of New England jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held off Salve Regina University late to claim a 2-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer victory Saturday (Sept. 26) at Reynolds Field.
With the win, the Nor'easters upped their unblemished conference record to 3-0 while improving to 6-2 overall. The Seahawks now stand at 4-5 overall, 1-2 in CCC action. The triumph was UNE's ninth consecutive over Salve Regina to improve its record to 14-6 in the all-time series.
Jessica Meader broke a scoreless tie in the 24th minute, tallying an unassisted goal for her fourth marker of the year and team-leading 11th and 12th points.

The Nor'easters would receive a crucial insurance goal in the 65th minute when
Edie Pallozzi scored off an assist from
Brionne Turcotte to give UNE a 2-0 cushion.
Salve Regina made things interesting late when Jessica Broadhurst converted a penalty kick opportunity with just under 20 minutes remaining to cut Big Blue's lead in half. The Seahawks would be unable to notch the equalizer before time expired.
Brielle Robinson was credited with seven saves to register her sixth victory of the year for UNE, which held a 16-13 edge in shots. Carly Pala totaled eight saves for Salve Regina.
The Nor'easters host a non-conference match Tuesday when Bowdoin College comes to Biddeford for a 7 p.m. start.
