Nicholas lifts Terriers over Nor'easters

Box Score

WATERVILLE, Maine -- DJ Nicholas scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute to provide the Thomas College men's soccer team with a 1-0 win over the University of New England in a non-conference match played under the lights Tuesday evening (Sept. 22) at Smith Field.

The victory evens the Terriers' record at 3-3, while the Nor'easters fall to 2-6.

London Steede-Jackson set-up the game-winning goal, feeding Nicholas with a pass before the rookie drilled home his first collegiate tally.

Joakim Sternas had a pair of saves to register the shutout for Thomas, which piled up a 29-4 advantage in shots, although just seven of those 29 were on-target. Nate Diffin and Jake Rostkowski combined to stop six shots for UNE.

The Nor'easters will be looking to halt their three-game losing streak Saturday when they face Salve Regina University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt starting at 3 p.m.
