Box ScoreWATERVILLE, Maine -- Kim Donaldson tallied 15 kills as Colby College rallied from a set behind to defeat the University of New England women's volleyball squad, 3-1, on Wednesday evening (Sep. 16) at Wadsworth Gymnasium. Set scores were 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, and 25-21.
Donaldson's night finished with a .353 hitting percentage and five total blocks, while Paige Hanssen added nine kills and Elizabeth Noyes contributed seven more for the Mules (3-3). Sarah Arvidson also ended with seven kills to go with 12 digs, and Natalie Roy recorded 27 digs. Molly Manuel and Emily Moslener combined for 31 assists.
Erika Sawicki led the Nor'easters (2-3) with 13 kills and
Emily Rumery notched 11 winners.
Grayson Szczepaniak chipped in with six kills and four total blocks.
Brittany Morrison had a match-high 32 digs as well as five aces, while
Kristen Falcinelli registered 29 assists and 15 digs.
UNE and Colby were tied on nine occasions in the first set, with the visitors securing the keys points late to get out in front. The Nor'easters were up 6-3 early in the second, but Donaldson posted three consecutive points with a 15-13 edge that gave the hosts enough of an advantage to level the match.
Thirteen ties were featured in the third, and locked at 23-23, a pair of UNE errors put Colby ahead. The Mules had just enough in the fourth, as well, largely behind 15 winners in the frame.
The Nor'easters have a week off before visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology next Wednesday (7 p.m.) to begin Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.(portions of recap courtesy of Colby Sports Information)
