The Gulls took the opener, 8-0 (6 innings), before securing a 4-3 win in the second.
EC ups its overall ledger to 15-12 with the results, and now stands at 11-2 in league outings. The Nor'easters fall back to 16-17 on the year (8-8 CCC).
Chanler Hospot and Jess Linden had hits in both contests for the Gulls.
Four players for UNE reached safely with hits over the course of the twinbill --
Amanda Vallante,
Kelly Murphy,
Sydney Helmbrecht, and
Cat Ouellette.
Blake logged a five-hit shutout in
GAME 1, allowing no free passes in the process.
Endicott scored three runs with one down in the bottom of the 1st. After a bases-loaded force-out at the plate, a walk, a single, and another walk moved runners around to come in.
Hospot hit a two-run homer in the 3rd to make it 5-0, and the Gulls tacked on three more with no outs in the 6th to end it. The third batter of the inning, Julia McNeill, recorded her third single of the match to drive in one, and Jamie Corda followed with her second hit to knock in another. With a walk to load the bases, Margaret Martzolf capped things off with an RBI-single to left.
Lauren Doneski struck out four in the loss for UNE.
It was the Nor'easters that got on the board first in
GAME 2, when
Paige Moore-Haskell put a two-out single into right to score Murphy.
Abby Lambert kept Endicott hitless through 11 outs before a double in the 4th, and two batters later Hospot singled in the tying run for the home team -- the first of her two hits. Stephanie Cameron then put a two-RBI single into center that swung the advantage over to the Gulls.
EC added one in the 5th, but UNE came right back with two in the top half of the 6th to make it 4-3. Vallante and Murphy each posted their second hits of the game, and Lambert ensued with an RBI-single into center. A wild pitch and fielder's choice led to another score, but the Nor'easters could not get the equalizer before the frame ended or in the next stanza.
Lambert took the setback with four strikeouts, and contributed two hits of her own as Big Blue finished with a 9-6 edge in the contest.
UNE is scheduled to wrap up the regular-season on Tuesday (3 p.m.) at home with a non-conference doubleheader against Saint Joseph's College (Maine).
