Box ScoreLEWISTON, Maine -- Jack Allard and Jack Strain scored three goals apiece to lead Bates College to a 15-6 men's lacrosse victory over the University of New England on Tuesday evening (Mar. 3) at Garcelon Field.
Holding just a 2-1 edge after 15 minutes, the Bobcats (1-1) scored six times in the 2nd frame while shutting out the Nor'easters (1-1) to seize control of the match. The spread grew to as many as 11 (13-2) by the end of the 3rd stanza.
Kyle Weber and Burke Smith each tossed in a pair of goals to support the Bates attack. Allard and Jake Walsh both tallied two assists.
Sam Francis, who went 18-of-22 at the face-off X for the hosts, led all players with 14 ground balls. Joe Faria made four stops in a little more than 57 minutes of work between the pipes.

Dan Auger paced the squad with three markers and one assist.

David Pearson posted 18 saves for Big Blue, which was out-shot by a 58-25 disparity.
The Bobcats, who finished on top of a similar margin (51-21) in ground balls, continue their four-game, season-opening home stand on Saturday against Wesleyan University (Conn.).
The Nor'easters play at home for the first time on Saturday (3 p.m.) against Plymouth State University.
