Box ScoreCLERMONT, Fla. -- Meghan Hayes regsitered eight strikeouts to pick up her sixth victory and lead Babson College in an 8-0, six-inning decision over the University of New England on Thursday (Mar. 19) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
The Beavers (8-4) and Hayes limited the Nor'easters (4-6) to four hits and a pair of walks before walking off with the win in the bottom of the 6th.
UNE had more hits (3-2) than Babson through four innings, as
Katelyn Austin, who recorded Big Blue's first single, kept pace with Hayes from the UNE circle. The Beavers edged in front during the home half of the 4th on a solo home run by Leslie Moore.
Samantha Smith produced a two-run homer in start a four-run 5th for Babson. Lindsay Schmid began the 6th with a solo shot, and, after another run came across, Caitie Benoit put a two-out single into left-center to plate Madison Dinaso for an 8-0 cushion.
