BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Ben Pearl scored at 14:14 of the third period to lift the University of New England to a 1-1 overtime tie with No. 12 Hobart College in a non-league men's ice hockey game played Saturday evening (Oct. 31) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

With his team on the power play, Pearl received a drop pass from Brady Fleurent and rifled home a slap shot from the left circle to tie the game, 1-1.

After two scoreless periods, the visiting Statesmen got on the board with a power-play goal of their own when Mitch Beyer received a cross-ice pass from Connor Simon and found the back of the cage with a slap shot from the right point.

UNE led 12-6 in shots after one frame, but Hobart turned that around in the second, outshooting the hosts 19-4. Brad Robbins nearly gave the Statesmen a 1-0 advantage with 7:30 remaining in the period when his shot hit the pipe.

The Nor'easters would have the best scoring opportunityin overtime. Trevor Fleurent raced in on a breakaway only to have his game-winning bid denied by Hobart goaltender Lino Chimienti.

Chimienti finished with 28 stops, while Mason Riley had 35 saves for UNE.

Both teams return to action next Friday with 7 p.m. league home contests. Hobart commences ECAC West play versus Manhattanville College, while the Nor'easters open New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action when they host Saint Michael's College.
