Kaiser converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute after the Nor'easters were whistled for a foul in the box. The Hawks then made it 2-0 shortly after, scoring on a corner kick. Kristen Casey sent the ball in from the right side, and Haley Carignan headed it just over the goal line after a scramble in front.
The Hawks would add one more tally before intermission when Kaiser received a through-ball from Carignan, took one touch, and slid a left-footed shot inside the right post for her team-leading 13th goal of the season.
Sydney Martin had seven saves to register her eighth shutout. Shemade a nice stop of a point-blank offering by UNE's
Anna Michaud in the 13th minute, and came off her line to make a sliding stop of a shot from
Jackie Dickerson in the 81st minute.
Brielle Robinson was credited with seven saves for UNE.
This will be the second consecutive season the Nor'easters have hosted Gordon in the opening round of the CCC Championship. The two teams met once this regular season, with the Fighting Scots earning a 2-1 overtime home win Oct. 21.
