Box ScoreNEWPORT, R.I. -- Salve Regina University used a balanced attack to narrowly get past the University of New England, 3-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 24) at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Set scores were 28-26, 25-23, and 25-21.
The Seahawks (11-14, 5-2 CCC) received between 10 and seven kills from five different players, led by Mackenzie Donald. Samantha Higgins added nine winners and Emily Lipinski recorded eight. Kat Mendes also had eight kills, and pulled up a match-best 19 digs. Sydney Puffer had seven kills and Samantha Salwa set up 38 assists.
For the Nor'easters (6-13, 3-4 CCC),
Grayson Szczepaniak posted nine kills and a combined 20 more came from
Courtney Lambrese,
Emily Rumery, and
Erika Sawicki. Lambrese also had eight digs and Sawicki was part of three blocks.
Brooke Gibbons guided the attack with 25 assists, and
Brittany Morrison headed up the defensive effort with 14 digs.
UNE is scheduled to visit Bates College on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.) in a non-league match.
