Box Score

WENHAM, Mass. -- Kaelyn Silveira scored on a header 1:15 into overtime to give Gordon College a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer match played Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 21) at The Quad.

By virtue of their second straight overtime win, the Fighting Scots improved to 5-6-3 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play. The Nor'easters fell to 10-5-0 in all matches, 5-2-0 in CCC action.

Silveira's golden goal was set-up on a corner kick by Jamie Breton. Breton sent in a high ball that Silveira connected with as she was running towards the back post.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Gordon had tied the match in the 68th minute when Kara Dry moved the ball up the right sideline and crossed it to the top of the 18 to Naomi Shearer, who headed it back to Lauren Hayes. Hayes deposited a curling shot into the left corner of the goal.

UNE established a 1-0 advantage in the 27th minute as Jackie Dickerson ran on to a flick by Becca Murphy and drove the ball into the goal for her fifth marker of the season.

The Nor'easters carried play much of the afternoon, holding a 21-7 advantage in shots and 5-1 margin in corner kicks.

Gordon goalkeeper McKenzie Dion had a busy afternoon for the Fighting Scots, piling up 14 saves to record the win.

Brielle Robinson had four stops for UNE, which hosts Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
