BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Four different swimmers had a pair of individual wins to help lead the Roger Williams University Hawks to a 203-58 decision over the University of New England in a meet held Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17) at the Campus Center.

Andrea Almandoz (200 yard individual medley, 200 butterfly), Shannon Earley (200 backstroke, 1650 free), Hailey Martel (100 and 200 breaststroke), and Stephanie Niman (100 and 200 free) combined for eight of the Hawks' 10 individual event victories. Niman and Almandoz also were each involved with a pair relay triumphs -- the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle.

Kayla Burgess claimed the lone win of the day for the Nor'easters, recording a time of 1:02.89 to finish first in the 100-yard butterfly. The time Burgess posted was a little more than a second off the pool record set by Kathryn Lee of Colby College in 2009.

The Hawks, who evened their record at 4-4, compete at Eastern Connecticut State University next Saturday (1 p.m.).

UNE (5-2) will compete in a tri-meet at Gordon College that same day. The event, which also includes Colby-Sawyer College, starts at 1 p.m.
