BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Seven different swimmers won events for the University of New England in a 181-77 victory over Saint Joseph's College on Friday evening (Jan. 16) at the Campus Center Pool.
The Nor'easters (5-1) received multiple first-place showings from senior
Emily Zeimetz, sophomore
Lindsey Thomsen, and first-year
Kayla Burgess. Senior
Kelly Dolyak, sophomores
Eleni Bautz and
Andrea Rybicki, and first-year
Catherine Labriola added one win apiece. UNE also took both relay events.
For the Monks (2-3), juniors Annie Fougere and Brooke Huberdeau captured the 100 breaststroke (1:20.01) and 200 freestyle (2:15.55), respectively.
Zeimetz earned top points for Big Blue in the 100 butterfly (1:09.15) and 100 individual medley (1:07.31), Thomsen touched the wall first in the 50 breaststoke (33.45) and 100 freestyle (58.12), and Burgess was victorious in the 500 freestyle (5:46.11) right before claiming the 50 butterfly (28.99).
Dolyak cruised in the 1,650 freestyle, clocking a time of 20:09.27, while Bautz recorded 27.87 for a win in the 50 freestyle. Rybicki won the closest race of the night, posting a 32.73 in the 50 backstroke to edge SJC sophomore Danielle Charette by 0.81 seconds.
UNE gets right back to action on Saturday (1 p.m.), when the Nor'easters are set to host Roger Williams University.
Saint Joseph's returns to the pool next Saturday (Jan. 24) at home against Husson University.
