Box ScoreBRUNSWICK, Maine --Â The nationally-ranked Bowdoin College women's soccer team scored three second-half goals to pull away en route to a 4-1 victory over the University of New England in a non-conference match played Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 24) at Pickard Field.
The Polar Bears, ranked 11th in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III poll, are off to a 6-0 start for the fourth time in the history of the program. UNE (5-2) suffered its second consecutive loss after opening the season with five victories.
Despite out-shooting the Nor'easters 14-2 in the first half, the Polar Bears managed just one goal. Kaley Nelson found Amanda Kinneston open on the right side of the penalty area, and Kinneston went near-post for her team-leading fourth tally, which came in the 28th minute.
The Polar Bears doubled their lead early in the second as Abby Einwag converted a header off a beautiful cross by Maggie Godley. Kinneston was credited with a secondary assist on the play.
Jamie Hofstetter scored in the 59th minute and Abby Hammerl in the 70th to complete the scoring for Bowdoin, which ended the afternoon with a 24-7 advantage in shots.
Tori Field prevented a shutout for the Nor'easters, notching her first collegiate goal on a breakaway with 5:55 remaining.
Bridget McCarthy and Rachel Stout combined to make three saves in goal for Bowdoin. McCarthy went the initial 64:30 to earn the win.

Brielle Robinson made seven saves in 66:08 of playing time for Big Blue.
Emily Richard stopped one shot in relief of Robinson.
The Nor'easters will look to get back into the win column Saturday when they play a Commonwealth Coast Conference road match versus Eastern Nazarene College. Kick-off at Veterans Memorial Stadium is scheduled for noon.
