Box ScoreBEVERLY, Mass. -- Kelly Duggan curled a two-run homer around the foul pole in left in the 2nd inning, and Taylor Ahearn surrendered just two hits and zero walks, as third-seeded Curry College stayed alive in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Softball Championship with a 2-0 elimination-game victory over No. 4 University of New England on Friday afternoon (May 2) at the Endicott College Softball Complex.
The Colonels (25-16) advance to face No. 5 Western New England University (an 8-0, 5-inning winner over No. 6 Roger Williams) later in the day in another elimination game.
UNE concludes its 2014 campaign with a mark of 23-17.
Duggan's blast produced the only runs of the contest, coming after a one-out walk in Curry's second at-bat. Ahearn upped her personal record to 16-6 in the circle, recording three strikeouts. Ariel LaRosa notched two of her team's five hits.

Amanda Vaudreuil and first-year
Paige Moore-Haskell tallied singles for the Nor'easters. Both were lead-off hits in their respective innings (1st and 6th), and Big Blue managed to get a runner over to third with two outs each time, but could not push either across.
By going 1-for-3 at the plate, Vaudreuil finished the year with a .500 batting average -- the highest single-season total within the program over the last 19 years, and the second-best mark on-record. She also moves to the top of UNE's recent season records in total bases (104), extra-base hits (25), and doubles (18). Vaudreuil ends her career ranking in Big Blue's top three for hits, runs, doubles, home runs, extra-base hits, total bases, and runs batted in.

Abby Lambert allowed just four singles besides the home run, along with two walks, while striking out a pair.
