Morrisville State pulls away from UNE for 10-3 win

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Morrisville State College recorded all six of the goals scored after halftime to come away with a 10-3 victory over the University of New England in non-conference men's lacrosse action Monday afternoon (Mar. 3) at the Big Blue Turf.

Two games into their respective seasons, the Mustangs stand at 2-0 and the Nor'easters at 0-2.

Junior Brendan Shannon led MSC with three goals down the stretch, while classmate Jeremy Beresovoy and sophomore Louie Geswaldo added two goals apiece. Geswaldo also tallied two assists.

For UNE, first-year Dan Auger had a hand in all three scores with one marker and a pair of helpers.

The Mustangs were up 4-1 early in the 2nd period before senior Patrick Wolfe and first-year J.T. Oliver found the back of the net for the hosts.

The margin was one (4-3) in favor of Morrisville State at the break, despite being out-shot 20-11 in the opening 30 minutes.

But the visitors came out in the 3rd frame and scored four times between the 9:38 mark and 4:28 to gain separation. For the game, the Mustangs held a 35-32 edge in shots

Sophomore Chris Fiore posted 11 saves for Morrisville State, which returns to New York to play SUNY Geneseo on Saturday (1 p.m.).

The Nor'easters received 11 stops from sophomore John Dusel. UNE is back on the field Wednesday for a home match against the University of Southern Maine (3:30 p.m.)
