FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Multiple hits from seven different players powered the University of New England to a 13-8 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Monday morning (Mar. 17) at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Softball Classic.

Amanda Vaudreuil paced the offense, going 4-of-5 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored. Junior
Adrienne Chase went 3-for-4 in support, while driving in a pair and scoring twice. The Nor'easters (2-3) got two hits apiece from graduate student
Allie Frazier and sophomores
Amanda Vallante,
Abby Lambert,
Kelly Murphy, and
Jess Lemos.
Both Lambert and Murphy tallied three runs batted in. Like Vaudreuil, Vallante crossed the plate three times; Frazier and Lambert each accounted for two runs.
Big Blue posted 12 runs over the initial three frames to get out to a seven-run cushion (12-5). Sophomore
Lauren Doneski worked 4 2/3 innings of relief for Lambert to earn the decision.
The Pioneers (2-3) sent three around in the top of the 1st, when Haley Salaza doubled to right-center.
UNE responded with four in the bottom of the stanza -- all with one out -- to take the lead for good. Lambert tied things with a 2 RBI-single to center after Chase drove in Vallante, and Murphy capped the inning with a run-scoring single to left-center.
Ellyn Goerdt knocked in a couple for UWP, and both MJ Patten and Lisa Karau scored twice. Rachel Stron led off the 4th with home run over the fence in left-center. Keri Treml took the loss, saddled with 10 earned runs in two innings of pitching.
