WESTON, Mass. -- Four different swimmers captured two events each as the University of New England defeated Regis College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25).

The Nor'easters (1-0) received all of their eight individual event wins from senior Kelly Dolyak, classmate Emily Zeimetz, sophomore Lindsey Thomsen, and first-year Kayla Burgess.

Dolyak won both the 1000-yard freestyle (11:47.21) and 100 free (1:00.32). Her triumph in the 100 was the closest race of the day, as she touched the wall a mere 0.03 seconds ahead of Ashlyn Deroche of Regis.

Zeimetz swam to victory in the 100 butterfly (1:06.46) and the 100 IM (1:06.40), while Thomsen placed first in the 50 backstroke (29.95) and 100 back (1:05.18).

Burgess posted a narrow win (0.72) over Jessica Higgins of Regis in the 200 free (2:07.98), and later got the better of Higgins again in the 500 free (5:52.64).

The 200 free relay squad of Zeimetz, Dolyak, Burgess, and sophomore Eleni Bautz made it nine top finishes for Big Blue in the meet, clocking a time of 1:51.60.

For the Pride, Shannon O'Neil won twice and both Lucia Llorente-Ruiz and Haley Bowen took home one race apiece.

UNE opens its home schedule next Saturday (1 p.m.) against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
