BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Six different players scored as the University of New England tallied nine 2nd-half goals to pull away from Fisher College in an 11-1 victory in men's soccer on Wednesday evening (Sep. 4) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

UNE is now 1-0-1 on the young season, while the contest was the first of the season for the Falcons.

Sophomore Tyler Garnick totaled seven points on the night to lead the offense, notching three goals and an assist. He recorded the only two scores of the opening frame, coming in the 30th and 39th minutes.

The Nor'easters also received a hat trick off the bench from sophomore Jordan Storti, while junior reserve Jeremy Hill added a pair of markers. Junior Anthony Frangione, along with first-years Dylan Delloiacono and Jeffrey Edgecomb, rounded out the scoring for the hosts.

UNE's 11 goals in Wednesday's victory over Fisher was a single-game best for the program in at least the last 20 years. The next closest total in that time was nine, which Big Blue posted against Anna Maria during the 2000 season.

Sophomore Finn Ducker registered three assists to help pace the attack after intermission.

Big Blue junior goalkeeper Aidan McParland made one stop over the initial 45 minutes of action, before giving way to sophomore Nate Diffin, who also made one save.

Fisher, which was out-shot by a 33-10 margin in the game, got on the board in the 76th minute as first-year Robert Abreu headed home a corner kick from sophomore Gary Maldonado. The Falcons received eight saves from sophomore goalie Yves Charles.

UNE returns to the pitch on Saturday (1 p.m.) for a home date with Thomas College.
