BEVERLY, Mass. -- Sam DiBella and Krista Fales accounted for 11 hits and five runs batted in to lead the Endicott College softball team to an 8-0, 10-8 sweep of the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader on a blustery Sunday (April 7) afternoon at the Gulls Softball Complex.
The two victories make it four in a row for the Gulls (4-10, 4-0 CCC), who have recovered from an 0-10 start to the season. UNE now stands at 11-9 overall, 5-5 in CCC action.
The bats of DiBella and Fales and the arm of Nell O'Connor were the storyline in
game one. DiBella had a three-run home run for one of her three hits, while Fales went 4-for-4 at the plate. O'Connor allowed just three UNE batters to reach base, allowing three hits and no walks. She struck out five to even her record at 2-2.
Endicott struck early with two runs in the home half of the first. The Gulls would push their advantage to 6-0 with a four-run third frame. DiBella's homer to center field was the key blow in the inning. The game ended in the bottom of the sixth on the eight-run rule when a pair of runs came home on a passed ball and an error.

Amanda Vallante and
Jess Lemos had the Nor'easters' three hits. Rookie

Big Blue exploded for four runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 6-5 lead. Vallante produced a pair of runs with a bases-loaded double and would later score when
Amanda Vaudreuil knocked her and
Allie Frazier home on a two-bagger to left.
The Gulls responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Byrne Katz and Michael each had two-RBI singles to account for Endicott's four runs.
