MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England men's lacrosse team trailed by one late in the 3rd quarter, but finished with four of the last five markers to defeat Curry College, 10-8, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular-season finale Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 24) at Walter M. Katz Field.
Big Blue (12-4) will enter the CCC postseason tournament after registering a 6-2 ledger during league play, and are slated to host Salve Regina University in the No. 4/No. 5 first round match-up on Saturday (1 p.m.).
The Colonels end the year at 7-9 overall, 0-8 in conference action.

Nick Gross scored with 20 ticks left in the 3rd frame to tie things at 7-7 heading into the final period, where, after Curry's John Castellano netted his fourth goal of the contest, UNE tallied the last three goals to secure the win. Junior Pat Wolfe, first-year

Tyler Thomas.
Thomas, Gross, and Wolfe all found the back of the cage twice for the Nor'easters, while both Wolfe tossed in a pair of assists. Senior

Dan O'Gorman scored a goal to go with a 8-of-10 showing in face-offs and eight ground balls. First-year
John Dusel made 11 saves to improve to 3-0 as the starting goalie.
UNE led for the entire first half, as Thomas' two goals put the visitors in front during the opening 13 minutes. Big Blue led 3-0 after the 1st stanza, and 6-4 at halftime.
The Colonels rallied with the initial three scores coming out of the midway break, before the Nor'easters regained control.
Castellano ended with seven points on the day (4 goals, 3 assists). Tim McGonagle posted 15 stops between the pipes.
The Nor'easters finished with a 46-33 advantage in shots and a 48-36 cushion in ground balls. Senior
Nick McMahon led a solid defensive effort with five caused turnovers.
