Nor'easters breeze by Curry, 3-0, in CCC play

MILTON, Mass. -- Senior Angie Brunette and junior Leah Janelle combined for 24 kills to power the University of New England women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-7, 25-17) win over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday (Oct. 9) evening at the Curry Student Center Gym.

Winners of seven of their last 10, the Nor'easters now own a 10-7 overall record and are 2-1 in conference play. Curry dropped to 8-13 and is 0-3 in CCC matches.

Brunette recorded a match highs of 14 kills to go with a pair of solo blocks to help lead the way for UNE. Janelle had 10 kills and served-up three aces, as did sophomore Jalene Kanayurak and first-year Grayson Szczepaniak, who also added five kills. Senior setter Maria Kuehl handed out 17 assists and added 14 digs, while classmate Kirsta Adie paced all players with 17 digs.

Alyssa Keeney had nine kills and 10 digs for Curry, which was limited to a .010 attack percentage by the Big Blue defense.

The Nor'easters are off until next Tuesday (Oct. 15) when they host Gordon College starting at 7 p.m.
