Framingham State edges Big Blue in 5-set affair

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Framingham State University and the University of New England traded sets to open the Crabtree Classic hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday (Oct. 5), with the Rams taking a 15-7 decision in the 5th for a 3-2 women's volleyball victory. Scores through the initial four sets were 25-20, 17-25, 25-19, and 21-25.

The Rams used a balanced attack to record their 13th win of the season against just four losses.

Senior Angie Brunette had a career match for UNE (8-6), totaling 23 kills and three blocks in the contest. First-year Grayson Szczepaniak added 11 kills and four aces, and senior Maria Kuehl dished out 28 assists. Defensively, senior Kirsta Adie notched 21 digs and sophomore Hanna Roberge registered 11 more.
