Warriors overcome early deficit to top UNE

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Crabtree Classic host Eastern Connecticut State University rebounded from dropping the opening set (25-22) to top the University of New England on Saturday (Oct. 5) for a 3-1 victory in women's volleyball action. ECSU took the ensuing three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-22.

Nicki Gasch and Adrianna Mihalek combined for 30 kills to lead the hosts (9-8).

For UNE (8-7), first-year Grayson Szczepaniak combined with senior Angie Brunette and first-year Erika Sawicki for 33 kills. Senior Maria Kuehl had 27 assists, two solo blocks, and 19 digs. Three others reached double digits in the digs category -- sophomore Hanna Roberge, senior Kirsta Adie, and first-year Nikki Mathewson.
