GORHAM, Maine -- Junior
Margaret Palmer scored two goals and assisted on the third as the University of New England women's soccer team cruised to a 3-1 non-conference victory over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 15) at Hannaford Field.
Winners of four of their last five matches, the Nor'easters improve to 8-5, while Southern Maine dips to 4-9-1. UNE has now won six straight meetings with the Huskies.
Palmer, who was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Week yesterday, converted on a UNE set piece just 6:10 into the contest. Junior

The Nor'easters pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute after Southern Maine keeper Katie Cobb made a spectacular save on a shot by Palmer. Junior
Kaitlyn Hall knocked in the rebound for her third tally in five matches. Palmer was credited with an assist on the play.

Taylor Littlefield slotted a pass to Palmer, who notched her team-best eighth goal in the 57th minute.

The Huskies avoided a shutout by getting into the scoring column four minutes later. Senior Jordan Grant's cross found CC Pelletier at the six-yard box, and Pelletier deposited it into the back of the net.
First-year goalkeeper
Brielle Robinson registered the win for the Nor'easters to raise her record to 5-1. She had three saves for UNE, which held a commanding 29-8 margin in shots.
Cobb had a busy day in goal for the Huskies, stopping 13 shots on frame.
Big Blue has three days to prepare for a key CCC showdown on Saturday when Roger Williams University comes to Biddeford for a 3:30 p.m. start.
