Nor'easters place in Top 10 at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Competing as a split squad on Saturday (Oct. 12), the University of New England men's cross country team placed ninth out of 35 entries at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University.

The hosts took the event with an aggregate score of 77 to edge NCAA Division I Siena College (84).

CJ Vallie placed 35th to lead the way for the Nor'easters, who amassed a team total of 318. The sophomore circled the course in a time of 27:22.

First-year Paul Mangiafico (66th - 27:54), junior Shane Murphy (68th - 27:5), senior DJ Raboin (87th - 28:23) and senior Geoff Wahome (94th - 28:31) also figured into the scoring for Big Blue.

Senior Nate DiMartino and junior Chad Lyons also competed in the meet.

Mark Gulesian of Babson College won the meet, breaking the 26-minute barrier by a second.

UNE returns to competition Friday (Oct. 18) at the Emmanuel College Invitational held at historic Franklin Park in Boston.
