At UNE: competed in seven meets in 2013... finished in the Top 20 at the CCC Championship... had an outstanding season in 2012 as he earned all-conference accolades after finishing second at the CCC Championship... placed 14th at the ECAC Championship... earned the team's Most Improved Runner Award in 2011... chosen CCC Rookie of the Week once as a first-year... is a two-time co-captain.
Prior to UNE: attended West Rutland HS... earned three varsity letters in the different sports -- cross country, track and field, and basketball... served as captain of the cross country and basketball teams his senior year... was a MVL champion as a senior, and runner-up his junior and sophomore seasons.... finished in the Top 3 in four different track events at the state championship... awarded his school's Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Personal: the son of Lori and John Lyons... an applied exercise science major... is a member of UNE's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, vice president of the Class of 2015 and co-president of UNE's Track and Field Club... has a Westbrook College of Health Professions Research Fellowship.
