Hawks dispatch Nor'easters in straight sets

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Junior Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) and senior Abby Cunningham (Catasauqua, Pa.) combined for 23 kills to lead Roger Williams University to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-20) win over the University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's volleyball match played Saturday (Sep. 29) afternoon.

The victory keeps the Hawks unbeaten in conference matches at 3-0 while improving their overall mark to 10-7. UNE falls to 7-4 overall, 2-2 in CCC action.

Sophomore Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) had seven kills to pace the Nor'easters. Senior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) recorded six apiece. Junior setter Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) handed out 21 assists, and classmate Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) anchored the defense with eight digs.

For the match, Roger Williams hit at a .382 clip compared to UNE's .110 attack percentage.

UNE is scheduled to take on Keene State at 2 p.m. to round out its day's play at the tri-match.
