WATERVILLE, Maine -- Junior Michael Hand (Essex, England) scored 27 seconds into the match to give Thomas College the only offense it would need in a 2-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over the University of New England on Sunday (Sep. 2) afternoon.

Hand got the hosts on the scoreboard when he converted a rebound of a shot by Dakota Duplisse (Hampden, Maine) in the opening seconds of the match. Hand would figure into the scoring of an insurance goal, pushing a thru ball to Jordan Phelps (Maroochydor, Australia), who converted the feed in the 42nd minute.

Junior goalkeeper Mikkail Crockwell (St. David's, Bermuda) needed five saves to record the shutout for the Terriers (1-0).

Sophomore Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) stopped five shots for the Nor'easters, who host the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday (Sep. 5) at 4 p.m.
