BEVERLY, Mass. -- Eleven different players scored for top-seeded Endicott College as the Gulls won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men's Lacrosse Championship with a 15-9 decision over No. 3 University of New England on Sunday (May 13) at Endicott Stadium.

The ECAC title is the third for Endicott (11-9), which captured the event in both 2008 and 2009.

UNE's most successful campaign comes to an end with a 10-10 record -- the first year with a .500 or better winning percentage, and the highest single-season total of wins by two (8-10) over last season.

Sam Ozycz was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after the game. Ozycz went 1-for-7 in face-offs during the 1st half of the final, while the Gulls maintained a 4-2 edge, but earned possession for Endicott on 15-of-18 draws over the last two quarters to help the hosts extend the margin. He also picked up a game-high 12 ground balls in the contest.

The Gulls out-scored UNE by a 9-3 difference in the 3rd frame to establish a 13-5 lead heading into the closing 15 minutes.

Brendan Eppley fueled the Endicott attack, recording five assists on the afternoon. Four players -- Connor Prescott, Jon Thanas, Peter Erickson, and Jeremy Morgan each scored twice for the victors. Tom Burke made 11 stops between the pipes for the Gulls.

The Nor'easters were led by senior Matt Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) with three goals (all in 2nd half), and sophomore Dan O'Gorman (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) finished with three points as well (2 goals, 1 assist).

UNE senior Nick Peter (Queenstown, Md.) led all players with four caused turnovers, and junior Nick McMahon (Westfield, Mass.) added three. In goal for Big Blue, junior Jay Letendre (Southington, Conn.) registered 13 saves and grabbed a team-best eight ground balls. 

Endicott jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the 1st period before the Nor'easters got on the board with 32 ticks left in the quarter. Both sides tallied one score during the 2nd stanza to leave the Gulls on top, 4-2, at intermission.

The hosts struck for five goals in the initial seven minutes of the 3rd to built up some breathing room (9-2). Big Blue got the difference back to five (10-5), but three more for Endicott made the gap eight entering the last frame. The Gulls capitalized on the five UNE penalties in the 3rd, recording four man-up goals in the stretch.

O'Gorman posted both of his scores in the closing period, which the Nor'easters won, 4-2, but UNE could not make up the deficit. The final margin of six was three less than the previous meeting between the squads, as Endicott had taken a 15-6 decision out of the regular-season match-up back on March 19.
